Earlier this year, Technology Services announced moving from the Avaya telephone service to Zoom Phone. Our teams are working to prepare the campus community for a transition in the fall of 2022. Please take a moment to learn what will happen next and how you can prepare.
- We expect to migrate the campus community to Zoom Phone by mid- to late October.
- Our first pilot is in progress; testing is going well.
Important: Complete a brief survey to prepare for Zoom Phone
Ensure your direct phone number and contact information is correct in our database by completing this brief survey. Completion of the survey is crucial for Zoom Phone to function properly.
Zoom Phone Advantage — desk phones not required
Zoom Phone functions using a desktop, laptop, or mobile device, eliminating the need for a desk phone. However, each dean, manager, or chair may decide to purchase one in rare cases. Please reach out to leadership in your area if you think you have circumstances requiring the use of a desk phone.
Conference Rooms and Common Areas — emergency phones required
Conference rooms and common areas must have a phone for emergency calls. If a conference room has a Polycom conference phone, it will continue functioning; there is no need to purchase a new one. If not, we recommend purchasing the Poly VVX 150. Visit the Zoom Phone webpage for recommendations.
Zoom Phone Training will be scheduled one week before the migration in October. However, it's not too early to learn about Zoom Phone via the Zoom Learning portal.
Q&A Drop-in Sessions and other training opportunities — All campus colleagues are welcome to join.
