In light of the devastating incidents that took place recently in our nation, we want to ensure that our Fresno State community is aware of the education and training resources available. These incidents further reinforce why we are committed to ensuring you know what to do in advance of a crisis.
In 2018, the California State University system developed a short training video that includes key responses you must plan for in advance of an active-shooter situation. Please take a few minutes to watch this important video.
In addition, we strongly encourage you to attend our in-person “Seconds 2 Survive” course (90 minutes), which is designed to help individuals plan, prepare, practice and perform so they know how to make life-saving decisions in the critical first seconds of an active-shooter situation. To schedule a training for your office or department, please contact Amy Luna, Emergency Preparedness Manager at amyluna@csufresno.edu. Campuswide classes are offered monthly. Students do not need to register in advance. You can view the fall 2019 schedule here.
Lastly, please become familiar with the campus emergency notification methods here and do not opt out of Bulldog Alert, the University’s emergency text message system, as that is the primary method for you to receive emergency communications from the Fresno State Police Department.
Campus News is the official faculty and staff email newsletter at Fresno State. It is published weekly during the academic year and every other week during the summer by University Marketing and Communications. Faculty and staff may submit information to be considered for publication to campusnews@csufresno.edu.
