Crystal Uyeno, adjunct instructor, Kinesiology Department and Nayantara Rodrigues, adjunct instructor, Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation, own Rooted Heart Yoga, a 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training Program, in Fresno.
In 2018, they started this mission by forming Namaste for Compassion, a local yoga nonprofit that provides free yoga to underserved communities and raises funds through yoga events, which are then donated to other nonprofit organizations. Their latest endeavor is Rooted Heart Yoga, where they hope to equip new teachers with the knowledge of yoga, trauma informed yoga and its benefits; in hopes that these teachers will pay it forward and spread this knowledge to their communities.
