What began as a "bold idea" in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State's newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Angelica Miramontes, Criminology
Angelica goes above and beyond to assist our students. She is very flexible, understanding and will always help any student that contacts our Criminology Department, even students that are lost and do not know which department they should contact for questions. She makes it a much more positive experience for any student coming to Fresno State.
Bernadette Nelson, Admissions and Recruitment
Bern is always willing to help answer your questions even when she is really busy. She is patient and goes that extra mile in explaining something, even if you asked her the same question more than once. She is very knowledgeable about admission processes and is a valuable asset on our team. I appreciate her.
Chris Hernandez, Office of Institutional Effectiveness
Our campus is very fortunate to have Chris' expertise and wonderful service. The Workforce subgroup of the Fall 2021 Planning Task Force was able to launch a Pulse Survey to obtain important feedback from our staff — thanks to Chris' above and beyond approach. Chris partnered with us and was very responsive and patient through the survey development process. He provided valuable recommendations and guided us toward an effective implementation. Thank you, Chris!
Diana Karageozian, Student Health and Counseling Center
She is always there to support and celebrate everyone. Thanks for going above and beyond, Diana!
Imaging Center
The Imaging Center processes thousands of transcripts for newly admitted students, continuing students and graduating students. Under the leadership of Esmeralda Ramirez, they work diligently and quickly to get all the transcripts processed. We appreciate all they do for our students and staff. Way to go Imaging Center!
Misty Brazil, Sandy Brooke and Aide Navarro, Division of Research and Graduate Studies
Misty Brazil, Sandy Brooke and Aide Navarro, the graduate degree specialists in the Division of Research and Graduate Studies, are true campus heroes! They work tirelessly behind the scenes evaluating hundreds of graduate student records every semester for 49 master’s degree programs, three doctoral degree programs and nine certificates of advanced study. They are the campus experts on all graduate program, university and state policies, and are sought out daily by students, faculty and staff for their extensive knowledge. The advisement they provide to our graduate student population includes everything from admission all the way through graduation and beyond. Misty, Sandy and Aide are often the primary contacts for students throughout their entire time at Fresno State. Students not only seek them out because they know they will receive thorough, accurate advice, but also because of their kind, caring and approachable personalities. These qualities spill over into the interactions they have with their co-workers, as well. I work alongside these ladies daily and can attest to their unending devotion and compassion for the work they do each and every day, in addition to the positivity and patience they display without avail. Thank you, Misty, Sandy and Aide for who you are and all that you do!
