Dr. David Low, professor of literacy, received the 2026 Helen C. Bailey Award from the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education in recognition of his contributions to the field of education. The award, which honors alums of the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, will be presented on May 16 as part of the 2026 Education Alumni Awards.

Dr. Alina Méndez, Chicano and Latin American Studies assistant professor, attended the National Association for Chicana and Chicano Studies annual meeting in San Antonio in early April and presented a paper entitled, “Con 85c no se come: The 1961 Imperial Valley Lettuce Strike.”
