In 2022, he won a prestigious MacArthur Fellowship, and his book won two PROSE Awards from the Association of American Publishers and the Herbert Jacob Book Prize from the Law and Society Association. The book was also a finalist for the 2022 PEN America Literary Award and the Los Angeles Times Book Prizes, and has been featured in a TED Talk, on NPR and in Publishers Weekly.
