What began as a "bold idea" in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State's newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Daryl Fitzgerald, University Advancement
Daryl goes above and beyond to be an awesome team member, models a positive and collaborative attitude, always comes ready to work and find a new and creative perspective, and works tirelessly for the students of the Lyles College of Engineering. He’s a Bulldog through and through!
Jerry Gomez, Student Involvement
Jerry has done an exceptional job growing the Fresno State Esports program and providing support for our students through these opportunities. Jerry always takes on new challenges with a great attitude!
Kim Camarena, Research and Sponsored Programs
Together with co-coordinator Millie Byers (McNair Program), Kim juggled multiple tasks for months and made sure the 42nd annual Central California Research Symposium took place on schedule (April 14). More than 150 presenters were able to participate in the virtual event thanks in large part to Kim's efforts. She made sure the many tech issues were addressed and navigated various obstacles to be sure everyone could participate. Kim and Millie together truly worked above and beyond to make this year's unprecedented event another memorable one.
Peter Robertson, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving
Peter is an exemplar of the collaborative spirit of Fresno State. He always looks for ways to engage his alumni connections with programs and needs on campus. Most recently, Peter worked with an alumna to secure a large donation for the Cross Cultural and Gender Center. He did this by working to learn the alumna's interests and areas of passion and then coordinated with Student Affairs to make sure all the logistics and criteria of the gift were met. This support is massive for CCGC and is just one example of how Peter seeks to support all areas on campus, regardless of the college or division. He is an incredible colleague.
Virginia Mathew, Facilities Management
A big thank you to Virginia for creating a Wellness Posse during this year's Administrative Academy. She leads a monthly meeting for staff members to connect, get to know each other better, and learn a bit more about our campus (who knew the mascot at games is named Timeout). Virginia makes it a welcoming and fun environment. Thank you!
Modeled Principles of Community
Melissa Tav, College of Health and Human Services
Melissa consistently demonstrates our "Principles of Community" through the following actions: Communicates with colleagues to engage and be supportive of each other's goals, contributes to making Fresno State a welcoming community for all, uses words thoughtfully and is mindful in her actions, and acknowledges the contributions of others. Thank you, Melissa!
Stephanie Roby, Smittcamp Family Honors College
Stephanie has helped me with our scholarship program for many years, but this year she was challenged herself with accessing data and still managed to get me the data I needed to select our incoming business scholars. Even though this is her busy time, she still managed to be smiling behind her emails. I appreciate her collaborative nature and spirit!
