Join the Student Health and Counseling Center in recognition of Denim Day.
Wear denim on Wednesday, April 26 in honor of Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Stop by the Wellness Fair in the Memorial Gardens area from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Learn about resources available to survivors at Fresno State and in our local community.
Denim Day began in 1998 after a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned. The justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, thereby implying consent. This is the longest running sexual violence prevention and education campaign in history. Denim Day invites community members, staff, faculty, and students to make a social statement with their fashion statement by wearing jeans (or some type of denim) on this day as a visible means of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.
Date: Wednesday, April 26
Time: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
