April 25: Documentary Screening: The Climate Baby Dilemma. The Sustainability Club is hosting a screening of “The Climate Baby Dilemma” on Thursday, April 25 at 5 - 7 p.m. in Room 290 of the Industrial Technology Building. The documentary explores the state of what to expect when you're expecting... climate change. With the future promising to be increasingly unstable and insecure, conversations about parenthood are heating up. Is it fair to bring a child into an unstable world? Will abstaining from having children help anything? Different perspectives around raising children are offered in the film and the creators offer ways to transform climate anxiety into transformative action. Feel free to bring a pillow, blanket, snacks or anything else to make yourself comfortable. We will follow the screening with a discussion of the film.
Please email the Sustainability Club at fresnostatesustainabilityclub@gmail.com if you have any questions or require accommodations.
April 27: Climate Adaptation and Environmental Justice Community Workshops. In collaboration with Fresno State’s Division of Equity and Engagement, Academic Affairs and President’s Office, the City of Fresno’s Long Range Planning Division will be hosting a workshop for the community on Saturday, April 27 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at J.P. O’Neill Park. This workshop will allow Fresno residents to learn more about the City’s upcoming Climate Adaptation plans, which must take environmental justice considerations into account. Please provide the City of Fresno with your own feedback by filling out this survey even if you do not plan to attend the workshop. City of Fresno staff will summarize community feedback they have received up until the day of the workshop regarding the ways in which residents experience extreme weather events across town. Fresno State student clubs and service learning students will be supporting the City with the event operations and bringing earth-related activities for families.
You can RSVP for this workshop, or the one on June 1, at this website.
