Dr. Lillian Faderman (professor emerita) will be inducted into the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Community Wall of Honor on Sept. 23. The wall recognizes and celebrates San Diego LGBTQ+ community members who have had a significant positive impact upon the San Diego LGBTQ+ community.
Eleanor Uribe, lecturer and faculty field liaison in the Department of Social Work Education, was reappointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to the Board of Behavioral Sciences for a four-year term. She has served on the board since August 2022.
The Social Welfare Evaluation, Research and Training (SWERT) Center has created “Social Work Unscripted” - a podcast series dedicated to amplifying social work voices and sharing knowledge with social work students, professionals, community members and Fresno State staff. The monthly series explores current issues affecting social workers and their communities through professional insights, lived experiences and emerging practices. Episodes run 45 minutes to one hour.
Dr. Candy Madrigal, associate professor in the Department of Social Work Education, presented at the Joint Conference in Social Work, Education and Social Development in Nairobi, Kenya this past June.

Dr. John McMillen, professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Dr. Michael Mahoney, professor and chair in the Department of Recreation Administration, and Ashley Abrahamson, instructional designer in the Office of IDEAS, published “Digital Accessibility and the ADA: What the New Website Rule Means for Sport Organizations” in the Journal of Legal Aspects of Sport.
Dr. Victor Torres was recently awarded a grant through the California Arts Council's Individual Artists Fellowship, administered by the Kern Dance Alliance. He received an Established Artist Fellowship to support his creative activities related to Mexican Folkloric dance, both on campus and in the community.
