With the fires in the Fresno area this weekend, including the Creek Fire, Fresno State wants to ensure that our faculty, staff and students are safe in the event that they may have been evacuated or experienced any personal losses. The safety of our campus community is always a priority.
If you have had to evacuate or have lost internet connectivity or power due to the fires, please fill out this Wildfire Impact Form. (Managers may fill out the form for employees who have been impacted and unable to complete the form on their own.) As of early this morning, the University is aware of at least four employees who have been impacted by the wildfire.
For staff: Please contact your supervising manager or your associate vice president, dean or associate dean who will help to provide emergency assistance as needed.
For faculty: If you are unable to continue with instruction of your classes, please let your students, department chair and dean know. If you don’t have internet access, contact your department chair or dean as soon as possible, and they will ensure that an email message is sent to your students. If you need further assistance, contact Associate Vice President Marsha Baum at baum@csufresno.edu.
For our colleagues who had to be evacuated, and if they have experienced losses caused by the wildfires (e.g. loss of home, personal belongings), university officials are exploring the creation of a new emergency fund that would be housed in the Fresno State Foundation that would accept monetary donations to support employees at a time of need, similar to the Good Samaritan Fund for our students. More information will be forthcoming.
If you know a student who needs academic assistance, please have them contact Dean Bernadette Muscat at bmuscat@csufresno.edu. (Students also received an email yesterday with information about additional resources available to them, if they were affected by the wildfires.)
For timely updates, please check your Fresno State email regularly, and see updates on http://www.fresnostate.edu/alert and on the University’s primary Twitter and Instagram accounts.
