Fresno State colleagues and community members remembered Fresno State Police Chief David Huerta as a respected leader with integrity.
An outpouring of support and memories of Chief Huerta flooded social media in the week following his death on Aug. 16, after 13 months of hospitalization at UCSF Medical Center. President Joseph I. Castro held a moment of silence in his honor at the Fall 2019 Faculty and Staff Assembly.
A memorial service will be held for Chief Huerta at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at People's Church (7172 N. Cedar Ave.) in Fresno. A reception will follow at the Smittcamp Alumni House on campus.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of David Huerta to the Ronald McDonald House Central Valley. Online donations can be made here.
