Fresno State is tied at No. 30 for social mobility in U.S. News and World Report’s 2026 rankings published on Sept. 23.
That’s a spot higher than the No. 31 ranking in last year’s report. The social mobility category recognizes colleges and universities for how well they help students improve their socioeconomic status through educational opportunities.
Fresno State also ranked nationally for best value university at No. 52. The university tied for best undergraduate engineering program, non-doctorate, at No. 46, and tied for best computer engineering at No. 12.
In August, the university ranked No. 2 nationally in Washington Monthly’s new ranking of Best Colleges for your Tuition (and Tax) Dollars.
