Dr. Anil Shrestha, professor in the Department of Plant Science, has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Journal of Crop Improvement, published by Taylor and Francis publications. With a teaching and research emphasis in weed science, integrated pest management and agroecology, the 15-year faculty member's research background is equally utilized by the campus Viticulture and Enology Research Center as its interim director. He additionally serves as an academic editor and an editorial board member for the international journals PLOS One and the Journal of Sustainable Agriculture. The former president of the California Weed Science Society also serves as an associate editor for the Agriculture and Environmental Letters tri-society journal.
