Viticulture and Enology
Dr. Miguel Pedroza, assistant professor, is fascinated by how wine can stimulate the perception of flavor in the human brain. Since 2014, he regularly participates as a professional wine judge at national and international wine competitions. He specializes in grape and wine analysis. See more.

Dr. (Kristy) Qun Sun

Dr. (Kristy) Qun Sun, assistant professor, previously taught food analysis for the Department of Food Science and Nutrition at Fresno State. Her research interests are grape/wine aroma and flavor compound identification, the impact of viticultural practices on grape and wine quality, developing new analytical techniques for measurement of grape and wine components, determining the relationship between sensory attributes and wine composition. Plant Science/Ag Mechanics
John Williams, lecturer, is a certified Briggs and Stratton master service technician and has served in many teaching and leadership positions within the California Agriculture Teachers Association. Before becoming full-time faculty member in the fall of 2017, Williams had been a Fresno State adjunct faculty member since 2015 and teacher at Madera South High School from 2009 through 2017. He teaches all four campus ag mechanics classes that include small gas and diesel engines, power equipment safety, advance farm machinery and tractor topics. Fresno State is the only CSU campus that offers a mechanized agriculture emphasis for agriculture education majors.
Winery
Tom Montgomery, who has already been introduced in the Campus News, is the new winemaker for the Fresno State Winery. A Fresno State alumnus, he has managed all aspects of processing from crush through bottling, product development, staff, sales support, events, and marketing and promotion. His experience also includes work with growers and grapes from California’s more than 107 recognized wine-growing regions, otherwise known as appellations. See more.
