This week kicks off our second annual Healthy Campus Week at Fresno State. Get a free limited edition T-shirt when you Zumba with us!
Fresno State is part of the Partnership for a Healthier America’s (PHA) Healthier Campus Initiative, a collaboration between 69 colleges and universities across the nation to create an environment that encourages and supports greater physical activity and healthier eating habits among students, faculty and staff.
Through a partnership between Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, Academic Affairs and Administration, Fresno State has committed to meeting 23 out of 41 guidelines to make healthier choices on campus more accessible by May 2020. See a listing of activities scheduled for the week!
One of the highlights of this week will be to formally introduce the campus to the marked 1-mile, 1.5 mile and 2-mile Bulldog Walking Trails with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 25 at 10 a.m. at the Speakers Platform. See the marked trails.
The PHA’s Fresno State Planning Coalition would like to challenge faculty and staff to commit to doing something healthy this week, tag it with #HealthyCampus @FSHealthPAWS and post it on social media. Whether it be as an office, a team of colleagues or even as an individual, here are some suggestions:
- Host a healthy potluck with lots of vegetable and fruit options.
- Take 15 minutes and walk along one of the marked Bulldog Walking Trails at lunch.
- Attend the Benefits Fair and Wellness Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 26, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the SSU.
- Zumba on Friday, Sept. 28, 12:15 to 12:45 p.m. on the lawn in front of the Kennel Bookstore. (The first 50 staff and faculty get a limited edition blue PHA T-shirt!)
- Take a stretch break at your desk.
- Drink water instead of soda for the week.
