The Kremen School of Education and Human Development will house the Central Valley California Arts Project, providing professional learning, leadership development, and resources in dance, media arts, music, theatre, visual arts and career arts educators from pre-kindergarten to university faculty in Merced, Mariposa, Madera, Fresno, Kings and Tulare counties. Dr. Ahran Koo is serving as the project’s director and principal investigator.
The Central Valley California Arts Project launched with the “Bodily Autonomy Workshop” featuring artist Lauren Lee McCarthy on Sept. 10 followed by a “Hmongstory Legacy” lecture by Lar Yang and David Lee on Sept. 17 at the Library's Ellipse Gallery. An “AI and Painting” workshop featuring artist Dr. Hyeyong Maeng is coming Nov. 7 and 8 in the Conley Art Building.
The Central Valley California Arts Project is a regional site of The California Arts Project, which is part of the California Subject Matter Project. The Central Valley California Arts Project joins several other California Subject Matter Projects already housed in the Kremen School.
The California Subject Matter Project is administered by the University of California Office of the President in concurrence with the California Department of Education, State Board of Education, California State University, California Community Colleges, Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities, the Governor’s Office, the Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the Instructional Quality Commission. Each project has a statewide office, regional sites and an advisory board comprising representatives from these organizations as well as professional associations and industries.
