Goes Above & Beyond
Art Hauzer, Lyles College of Engineering
With the construction ongoing in and around our building, Art went above and beyond to help troubleshoot issues of electrical outlets not working and an HVAC supply that was not supplying air. He and his colleagues not only resolved the issues but helped me ensure my office was ready for the semester. Thank you so very much!
Environmental Health and Safety, Risk Management
Lisa, John, and Jaime are unsung heroes on campus. Throughout the pandemic, they have worked consistently to update us on campus safety, host department safety training meetings, contact tracing, website updates and more. They patiently answer my questions and give me direction. I am grateful for all they are doing to keep our employees and students safe. Thank you and keep up the good, but tiring, work. It has not gone unnoticed. You are appreciated!
James Herrin, Technology Services
We really had to crunch time as the beginning of the semester neared. James was there to help troubleshoot any issues I had with my labs. Thank you, James!
Martha Lomeli, Curriculum and Instruction
Martha is a key "go-to" person in the Kremen School for her deep and broad knowledge regarding university processes. She is very organized and can pull up any needed information quickly. She is a productive, hard worker who starts working early in the morning and will diligently work until the job is done. She and the department chair confer at night and on weekends when necessary — whatever it takes to most effectively serve the department (faculty and students). When needed, Martha supports other offices in the Kremen School with her time and expertise, and she provides faculty and staff with important nudges when there are unfinished to-do's. We highly value and appreciate Martha!
Physical Therapy Department Staff
Karen Nephew and Rhonda Velasquez went above and beyond to implement a new daily health screening program with our physical therapy graduate students. In about 15 hours, Karen and Rhonda organized a "check-in station" for students and faculty to stop each morning to verify the green check mark on the Daily Screening tool, do temperature checks, and complete a sign in sheet. The entire PT Department faculty are incredibly grateful for Karen and Rhonda! Their adaptability, ingenuity and positive attitudes have led to a successful new program.
Provided Excellent Customer Service
Benjamin Kirk, College of Arts and Humanities
I want to thank Ben for always being a help to me. I often need to ask for a quick turnaround on photos or information from him. He gives it to me promptly and without complaining. He is an excellent co-worker and I appreciate him putting up with me and my last-minute requests. It does not go unnoticed. You are appreciated, Ben!
Bryan Berrett, Center for Faculty Excellence
Stopping by to connect at CFE, I ran into Bryan. I mentioned trying to implement the Hyflex modality learned over the summer in the CFE program. However, I was not able to be scheduled in a Hyflex classroom. Bryan proactively offered assistance with facilitating this modality in my classes and connected me with tech support to assist me further. Thank you so much!
Greg Chapman, Technology Services
Greg is always helpful when I have questions regarding anything Windows or MCEM related. He always takes his time to share his knowledge anytime something isn't clear. He also provides good beer recommendations.
Kelly Nelson, Facilities Management
I was having trouble getting the elevator hand sanitizer dispensers fixed and refilled in the business department. They have not been working since the start of the semester. I saw Kelly cleaning one of our water fountains and asked if she knew how we got those fixed. Her answer: "let me call somebody." Like magic, within two hours, all the dispensers were working again. Not only that, but she is so detail-oriented and keeps our handrails, water fountains, counters, etc., completely clean. She is a very hard worker, friendly and in great spirit at all times. Thank you, Kelly!
Ryan Sepulveda, Human Resources
Ryan is the epitome of helpful, caring, giving customer service. He responds to my questions in an amazingly quick time frame, gives insightful answers, goes far beyond in assisting not only myself but the students that I work with. Thank you, Ryan, for being such a rock star of customer service.
Veronica Aguilar, Services for Students with Disabilities
Veronica and her team routinely provide excellent customer service. Recently a student needed extra grace and support. Veronica and her student assistants made the student feel supported and cared for and provided him above and beyond customer service to help him get through a hard time. Thank you for always being top notch SSD front desk!
Saved My Bacon!
Nick Petitti, Technology Services
Nick was able to resolve an issue we were encountering in our labs. He worked after hours to ensure the lab would be able to function before the first class the following day. He kept me updated throughout the evening on his progress. He provided excellent help and saved my bacon!
