As we begin another busy academic year, it is important that we attend to our responsibilities under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the CSU Accessible Technology Initiative to ensure that our community members with disabilities have equal opportunity to participate in and benefit from all of our programs, services, and activities.
Technology Services is excited to announce all new digital accessibility training sessions for fall 2022. All are welcome to attend. The Office of Digital Accessibility is providing the following training:
- An Introduction to Digital Accessibility at Fresno State: A wide-ranging talk on all the available digital accessibility resources at Fresno State, covering the importance of digital accessibility, key offices, resources, and available tools. There will be an open discussion on the needs of our campus and potential future training sessions.
- PDF Remediation: Easy tips and tools to make simple PDFs accessible.
- Accessible PDF Forms: Learn how to easily create accessible PDF forms using Adobe Acrobat.
- Accessibility and Zoom: Zoom is for video and audio conferencing, collaboration, chat, and webinars across multiple platforms. Join Lars Newlander and Mike Harding as they discuss using Zoom to create accessible communications.
- Video Captioning: Captioning your videos help promote an equitable environment online. Learn how to use campus tools like YouTube Studio to caption videos. The training will also cover how to format your captions correctly.
Web Services offers training for the campus OMNI CMS web portal. Learn how to edit campus web pages, be a content editor, upload images and documents, link to web pages, and more. Please Note: Omni CMS training is mandatory to access the campus web portal. Additional training videos (covering Omni CMS features and web accessibility basics) are provided and accessible at any time.
Both the Web Office and the Office of Digital Accessibility are offering virtual office hours/open labs on Zoom to support any issues, concerns, or questions from the community. The Web Services Open Lab is offered every Friday by appointment. Office of Digital Accessibility virtual office hours are every Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. starting on Sept. 6.
