The 15 student leaders that make up the Homecoming Committee have been working diligently on planning this week of events for our students since July.
Their involvement on the Homecoming Committee has given them experience in leadership, event planning, marketing, networking, professionalism and collaboration.
Shawna Blair, Program and Events Coordinator in Student Involvement and advisor of the Homecoming Committee is “looking forward to seeing all of the hard work that the students have been putting in since July, pay off”.
Alexis Orozco is a Fresno State student that serves on both USU Productions and the Homecoming Student Committee. He has “been excited for this year's Homecoming since the the beginning of the summer.”
“The students on the Homecoming committee, including myself, were a part of the discussion for what we envision Homecoming to look like in the students' perspective. This year's Homecoming is a huge step in the right direction. With the first-ever outdoor movie showing at the Bulldog Stadium and our first-ever Homecoming Big Show with stars such as Adam Devine, Fortune Feimster and Adam Ray... this is the beginning of a tradition that will hopefully continue for future Bulldogs and provide the exciting experience and show how we are Fresno State," Alexis said.
The theme, “We are Fresno State,” was set with the intention to unify our campus community around our Bulldog Identity.
The Fresno State Homecoming Big Show is the highlight of Homecoming Week this year. Comedians Adam Ray (Spy), Fortune Feimster (The Mindy Project), and Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect and Workaholics) will be performing at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, at the Save Mart Center.
The comedy night is open to students, faculty and staff. Tickets can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office and the USU Information Center.
“Nothing to this caliber has ever been planned as a part of Homecoming Week in the past. This will be the biggest, boldest Homecoming Week that Fresno State has ever seen,” Shawna said.
