2024 award recipients Dr. Santanu Maitra (chemistry and biochemistry) and Dr. David Lent (biology), are presenting their award-winning project which focuses on the development of small-molecule repellents of Spotted Wing Drosophila (SWD) as a combating technique. The research team has been working on the synthesis, structural studies and biological evaluation of analogs of N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide (DEET) – a mosquito repellent that also repels fruit flies.
