One Bulldog's journey from Fresno State football to the State Capitol, shaped by leadership, service and a commitment to the Central Valley.

From low income housing to Fresno State football and the California State Assembly, David Tangipa’s journey is a powerful story of perseverance, purpose and possibility.

Tangipa was elected to California’s 8th Assembly District in 2024, serving communities across Calaveras, Fresno, Inyo, Madera, Mariposa, Mono and Tuolumne counties. Before his election, he worked in real estate and with Fresno County.

A first-generation American and the son of a veteran, Tangipa was born in Sacramento and spent his adult life in Fresno. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and criminology and an MBA with an emphasis in marketing from Fresno State, where he also played tight end for the Bulldogs.
