Examining Microagressions and Their Impact on Campus Climate

Microaggressions are brief and commonplace daily verbal, behavioral or environmental indignities — whether intentional or unintentional — that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative slights and insults toward individuals based on one's race, gender, class, sexuality, language, immigration status, phenotype, accent, or surname. This interactive workshop will examine the impact of microaggressions on campus climate and provide tools to effectively address them when they occur.
Workshop goals:
- Recognize when microaggressions are occurring in the workplace
- Understand the psychological effects on individuals and their harmful impact on campus climate
- Learn strategies and tools to successfully interrupt/address microaggressions when they occur
- Become a more effective ally to others

Intro to Photography - The Basics

Are your photos often times blurry? Too dark? Too Light? This workshop will deal with basic camera features and how they affect your photographs. Also there will be a discussion on how lens selection affects your photos. This course seeks to deal with these issues in a practical, easy to understand matter and to be applicable to all camera types.
Lavender Wands

Relax with the intoxicating scent of fresh Lavender as we make fresh Lavender wands with fresh cut stems straight from the farm. We will discuss the benefits of therapeutic horticulture and working with plants as we wrap our own wands for you to take home (or back to the office).
