Works Above and Beyond
Kate Bewarder, University Development
Katie worked diligently to not only work with Chevron on their most recent gift to Fresno State, but she collaborated with various offices across campus in order to showcase their philanthropic impact on our students. This is a heavy lift to coordinate, so I wanted to shine a light on her diligence and hard work!
Juana Gonzalez, Outreach and Special Programs
Juana was extremely helpful, detailed, diligent and went above and beyond to make sure we would have a successful event (Feria de Educacion). She not only managed and took care of her daily office responsibilities, but also offered support to various committee members. She is very knowledgeable and a joy to work with. I appreciate her cheerful personality and always making sure our office runs smoothly.
Renaldo Gjoshe, Library - Digital Services - Information Technology
Renaldo worked above and beyond the call of duty by providing me with the technology, technology instruction, patience and the physical space that I required to conduct my research. (The results of this research were presented at a national library association conference in October.) Renaldo orchestrated the Library Digital Services Team to make sure that everything fell into place as smoothly and efficiently as possible. I am grateful for his leadership and collegiality in this matter.
Vanessa Lopez, Fresno State South Valley Campus
Vanessa is among those unsung heroes at our South Valley Campus. She definitely emulates the University's mission and goals, especially when it comes to the students she works with. She is eager to help, even if it isn't a part of her normal duties. She maintains professionalism in email, on the phone, or in person. She makes everyone feel as if they are her priority even when she has to respond to numerous others, students, faculty and staff alike. The South Valley campus is very lucky to have her and the departments she interacts with on the main campus appreciate her.
Bernadette Muscat, Undergraduate Studies
Thank you, Dean Muscat, for continually supporting BSSI and MMRSP. I appreciate your guidance and leadership. Thank you for supporting Super Saturday.
Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success (IDEAS)
A huge High Five to the Office of Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success (IDEAS). The whole office went out of their way last week to assist in the CHHS dean search. From teaching me new technology, to putting out reader boards every day with updated information and making us all feel like a part of their team. Thank you for everything!
Provides Excellent Customer Service
Brian Alley, Accounting Services
I'm very appreciative of Brian from accounting services who took the initiative and the extra time to assist me (I'm a new employee) with the process of setting up an eMarket for our Department of Outreach and Special Programs for our event Feria de Educacion. Thank you, Brian!
Shelia Gallagher-Price, Career Development
Thank you for providing us with student assistants training and emphasizing the mentoring capacity that we have. I appreciate your investment in our team.
Kong Lee, Technology Services
Kong once again provided excellent customer service by setting up a special laptop and other technology specifications that I required to gather data for my research. Kong consistently works so quickly and quietly that he often rides under the radar in his behind-the-scenes technology support role. Kong’s ability to anticipate technology needs and address them proactively is commendable. (He often addresses problems before I even know that there's a problem.) I am grateful for his hard work; it does not go unnoticed!
Denise Pearcy, Printing Services
Denise always provides excellent customer service, is extremely helpful, offers great advice and goes above and beyond to make sure we have everything we need for our events. I know I can always reach out to her for guidance on things I need to print or swag we want to order.
Saved My Bacon
Ricardo Andrade, Outreach and Special Programs
Ricardo's support, commitment and leadership was instrumental in executing a successful Feria de Educacion. He helped in various areas with the planning and provided not only his expertise and input, but also conducted a last-minute interview when I was unavailable. Thank you, Ricardo, for your willingness to support me, assisting others and making sure we delivered an excellent event to students, families and community.
Sarah Confer, Human Resources
Sarah, thank you for always providing support where it is needed to ensure the success of your team. In a time crunch, you were able to quickly and efficiently deliver results. Your diligence is valued and appreciated!
Christine Evans, Library - Digital Services - Information Technology
Christine saved my bacon by providing me with a plethora of various library statistics and reports that I needed (in a time crunch) to support my research. (I presented this research at a national library association conference in October.) She ensured that every request was completed in a timely manner with efficiency and accuracy. I am grateful for her hard work and care.
Joshua Freeman, Library – Shipping and Receiving
Josh saw from his office window that the hood to my car was up and came out to help. He learned I had a dead battery and went to get a powerful portable charger that he had. He jumped my battery, allowing me to head to the closest AutoZone to get a new one. Without his help, I was looking at having to work with the roadside service via my car insurance, the time that would take and the likelihood they were only going to tow my car some place. Josh's willingness to drop what he was doing, come to my aid and send me along my way to get my car operational again is deeply appreciated. Thank you, Josh!
Yet Chun Fong, Innovation and Digital Excellence for Academic Success
Fong is a valuable team member. He not only taught me how to use the technology in UL2134, but he was also there to rescue me when there were hiccups. Thank you, Fong, for everything you did to make our meetings go smoothly.
Scheduling Office
On multiple occasions this semester, the Scheduling Office has been able to find a space for our 90 students to meet for our Jumpstart program trainings. Whether we find ourselves in a pinch for a last-minute change, or struggle to find a space to accommodate our growing program, the staff in the Scheduling Office always pull through and find a smooth solution for us. We are so grateful for the quick communication and efforts to ensure our programming is running smoothly on campus for ongoing events!
Modeled Principles of Community
College of Science and Mathematics
I appreciate the College of Science and Mathematics for their continuous support. BSSI is committed to closing equity gaps in STEM, and CSM has always helped support us through workshops, exposure and commitment. Thank you to BEST, Physics Outreach, EES, Climate Action Fellows, Computer Science, Psychology, Physics, Tri-Beta Student Organization and Dean Meyer for making Super Saturday innovative and distinct. We appreciate your dedication to fostering an inclusive environment where all students have the choice to engage with STEM.
