As part of Fresno State’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign, this week focuses on protecting your accounts through strong passwords and multi-factor authentication (MFA).
Your password is the first defense against cyber threats — but even strong passwords can be stolen or guessed. MFA adds a crucial second layer of security by requiring another verification form, such as a code from your phone or an approval through an authentication app. This extra step makes it much harder for attackers to access your account, even if they have your password.
What You Can Do
- Use strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts.
- Turn on MFA (e.g., DUO at Fresno State) wherever available, especially for Fresno State email, Google Workspace and other online services.
- Watch out for MFA fatigue attacks, where repeated approval requests trick users into allowing unauthorized access.
- Consider using a password manager to securely store and create complex passwords.
By strengthening your login security, you’re helping protect your personal information and Fresno State’s digital environment.

Remember: Stronger logins mean fewer compromises. Let’s work together to keep Fresno State safe online.
Thank you for helping keep our campus secure.
