On Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., join the CSU Student Success Network for Beyond Designation: Thinking Intentionally about Servingness in the CSU, a free virtual convening inspired by the passage of SB 1348, which established the state designation of Black Serving Institutions (BSIs).
This event will bring together CSU students, staff, institutional researchers, administrators and faculty to explore what servingness means within the contexts of BSIs, Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), and Asian American, Native American, and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AANAPISIs).
In the morning session, participants will reflect on how recent shifts in federal grant funding create space to rethink how we define, practice, measure and sustain servingness. In the afternoon, we will hear from others about the role of data in servingness work. This hands-on portion is ideal for practitioners who aspire to use data in their servingness efforts. Participants will have the opportunity to brainstorm around using data to assess indicators of servingness and advocate for sustaining impactful MSI-serving programs.
Registration closes Nov. 4, or when the event has reached capacity.
