It may not be a dating service, but campus can be the place to find your true love.
Roy Bohlin and Carol Fry Bohlin came to California (he from Kent State, she from Indiana University) to accept positions in the CTET (Curriculum, Teaching, and Educational Technology) Department in August 1990.
They became best friends and colleagues, attending new faculty meetings, working on grant proposals together, attending new faculty get-togethers, and more.
"I'm not sure that we realized that we were slowly falling in love until January of 1991, when we officially started dating," Carol said.
Over the years as a couple, they have had fulfilling careers at Fresno State. They have enjoyed having their offices on the same hall, attending many of the same meetings, serving the department/school/campus in various leadership roles with their colleagues, working on grants together, traveling to conferences together, discussing STEM- and education-related issues, mentoring their graduate and credential students, and much more.
Their son Christopher is also a Bulldog — he attended the Early Education Center in Kremen as well as University High School; he is now a computer engineering major at Fresno State.
Roy and Carol celebrated their silver wedding anniversary this spring, and they wish everyone else with a campus love story many, many, happy years at Fresno State, too!
