The project to replace building gas regulators and adding new earthquake valves will begin on Monday, October 2. Natural gas service to individual buildings will have brief 30-minute outages, but this will have little or no impact on our hot water heating system.
Facilities Management will work closely with the Occupational Health, Safety and Wellness Committee as well as the Department Safety Coordinators to ensure that safe access to and from campus facilities is maintained at all times, and that any safety concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
A campus-wide outage is scheduled for Saturday night (Oct. 7) from 10 p.m. to Sunday (Oct. 8) 10 a.m. This outage will not impact electrical service (power) to the campus.
Please be advised that while this work is underway, the odor of natural gas may be detectable; however, the contractor will have state-of-the-art monitoring equipment on-site at all times while performing their work.
