La Feria de Educación, one of three California State University education fairs held throughout the state and conducted mostly in Spanish, will be hosted by Fresno State on Saturday, Oct. 20, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Maple Mall on campus.
Mexican recording artist and actress Carmen Jara will be honored at the event. Also known as “La Reina del Jaripeo,” she is considered a key figure in the Mexican regional music movement. She started her own record label, “Yaqui Records,” and has recorded more than 30 albums to date. Jara is also a composer, an actress and a businesswoman.
Live entertainment includes student performances by the Fresno State Mariachi and Los Danzantes de Aztlan Mexican folkloric dance troupe. Fresno State alumna Alejandra Tejeda returns for the third year to sing the national anthem.
This event is co-sponsored by the CSU Chancellor's Office, Univision Fresno and the Mexican Consulate Office in Fresno.
