Jason Contreras, faculty in Animal Sciences and Agricultural Education department, was not only busy this fall teaching horse production and beginning colt training classes, but also serving as a judge at the Official American Paint Horse Association World Championship Show in Fort Worth, Texas (9/18-10/4). This is his second world show event after he also judged the 2018 Pinto Horse Association World Championship show.
The Sanger native has over 30 years of horse training experience and has held his judges card for 10 years with the American Paint Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse Club and Pinto Horse Association of America, Inc.
Jason and his wife (Terri) own and operate C and C Performance Horses in Sanger and are multiple world champion exhibitors in events such as reining, Western riding, hunter under saddle, working hunter, hunter hack and other disciplines. Their program has produced numerous state and world champions, including champion youth and amateur riders.
Dr. Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval, provost and vice president for Academic Affairs, participated in a panel discussion during a virtual forum about “The New Shape of Learning,” hosted by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
He joined La Jerne Cornish, provost and senior vice president for Academic Affairs at Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY; Bryan Alexander, futurist and author of “Academia Next: The Futures of Higher Education” and Goldie Blumenstyk, a Chronicle senior writer, to discuss how the pandemic has changed teaching and the delivery of instruction.
