Celebrate LGBTQ+ History Month by checking out the new “Proud to be Out: The Brengelman LGBTQ Collection and Homosaurus” in the Special Collections Research Center on the fourth floor in the south wing of the Library.
This collection highlights Dr. Fred Brengelman (1928-2019) and his collection of LGBTQ+ books, which were donated by his heirs.
“We’re making a push towards collecting more visible materials for underseen communities,” said Adam Wallace who works at the Special Collections Research Center. “Brengelman was an advocate for the LGBTQ+ rights, and this collection is relevant, especially for LGBTQ+ History Month.”
The collection will be up for the 2022-23 academic year. All books in the collection are available to be checked out for anyone, especially professors who would like to incorporate any of these books into their curriculum.
Visit Fresno State Library News to learn more or if you have any interests in checking out books from the collection.
