Phillip Gonzales, professor, Chicano and Latino American Studies, recently spoke at Cabrillo College about the significance of Chicano murals during Hispanic Serving Institution Week (HSI). He has been documenting and researching Chicano murals since 1980. He continues to provide specific information about Chicano murals and how they were a part of the Chicano Civil Rights Movement from the late 1960s to present day.
The “40 Under 40” reception, presented by Business Street Online, recognizes outstanding business professionals in the private and public sectors of Central California who have yet to reach the age of 40. They have demonstrated a strong work ethic, and are the leaders of today as well as tomorrow.
Each year, Business Street Online holds a networking reception, which the public can attend, to celebrate the accomplishments and hard work of these young rising stars.

Dr. Alexandria Hansen, assistant professor, biology, recently received a five-year National Science Foundation grant in collaboration with Dr. Myung Shin, assistant professor, liberal arts. The grant was a collaborative effort between Fresno State and three other CSUs (San Luis Obispo, San Marcos, Long Beach). All campuses are creating or expanding an afterschool program focused on STEM, called Mobile Making.
