Dr. Norman T. Woo, 82, of Irvine, passed away on Aug. 12, at the Providence Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo.
He was born in Shanghai, China on Sept. 28, 1939. Woo attended St. Francis Xavier’s College Catholic secondary school for boys in Kowloon, Hong Kong. He continued his education at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana. He graduated in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in pure mathematics. He later attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas for a master’s degree and Washington State University for a doctorate.
Woo was Professor Emeritus of mathematics, where he taught for 39 years from 1968 to 2007. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family. He was an avid bridge player and obtained the level of Sapphire Life Master. Woo is survived by his wife Angela, daughter Karolyn Woo-Miles, and son Kevin Woo.
