What began as a "bold idea" in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State's newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.

Goes Above & Beyond
Crystal Bishop, Undergraduate Degree Evaluations
Crystal is extremely reliable and knowledgeable regarding university and degree policy. I am always able to count on her for clear and accurate information on a variety of student cases. Recently, she moved over a dozen courses around for students with misplaced general education courses so that the student's course history can be accurately portrayed on their records in time for registration, and provided great information on a number of student cases and waivers that also came up. Thank you for everything Crystal!
Jesus Sanchez, Traffic Operations
Jesus is stationed at a health screening check point and is my first stop on campus. He is always friendly, kind, helpful, thoughtful and smiling. He provides a bright spot and warm welcome when I come to campus and I appreciate him!
Sheela Sorensen, College of Arts and Humanities, Development Office
On the University's Day of Giving, Sheela and Laura both went above and beyond to make sure that one large gift — made by one of the alumni chapters by check, to an Arts and Humanities student awards fund — made it to the Advancement Services office for deposit as part of the day's campaign. Laura personally ensured the check was cut and signed, the two of them made a special trip to a point on campus to meet, and then Sheela personally ensured the gift was recorded and the check delivered. Their high-level commitment to this one gift, amidst the hustle and bustle of Day of Giving, was extraordinary.
Laura Alcantar, Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving
On the University's Day of Giving, Sheela and Laura both went above and beyond to make sure that one large gift — made by one of the alumni chapters by check, to an Arts and Humanities student awards fund — made it to the Advancement Services office for deposit as part of the day's campaign. Dayna Matsumura, Craig School of Business
Dayna has gone above and beyond in so many ways. She has spearheaded several large-scale efforts that are especially challenging to complete while working remotely. Dayna tackles complex projects and is quick to volunteer to walk faculty and staff through ever-changing procedures. She is always thinking of how to further improve work processes and serve others. She is such an asset to the school.
Ashley Ilic, Brand Strategy and Marketing
Ashley's entire team is exceptionally talented, creative and productive. More specifically, her level of professionalism and work ethic sets a high bar for the team and others who collaborate with them. In addition to being strategic and incredibly responsive, Ashley regularly goes above and beyond of what's requested, to produce high-quality plans, deliverables (websites, email campaigns, videos, photos, graphics, etc.) and metrics, which ultimately raise the visibility and reputation of the University. Further, her critical role in ensuring the success of our recent Day of Giving should be applauded by all. Thank you, Ashley!
Saved My Bacon!
Boon Mo, Technology Services
Boon has worked above and beyond for our TRIO SSS/D program and recently saved our bacon! He takes initiative in finding ways to help our department which allows us to better serve our students with disabilities. He is always on top of things and assists us with our job tickets as quickly as he can. Thank you for all that you do for us, Boon!
Provides Excellent Customer Service
Janet Booth, Office of the President
Despite the hectic pace between our two offices, Janet manages to stay a step ahead of me by bringing deadlines to my attention, in the friendliest of ways, and allowing for flexibility when I need it. She's responsive even under pressure and manages to keep her sense of humor and perspective. I value Janet's assistance and thank her for being a resource for others on my team, as well. Thank you, Janet!
Lori Clanton, Advancement Operations
Lori keeps University Advancement's operations running smoothly and efficiently by being responsive to our many requests for help or clarification, developing processes to assist supervisors with their budgets and personnel, and so much more! Having worked at other universities and organizations, I've never had the quality of support (and guidance) from an operations manager as Lori provides to the entire UA division. In addition, her upbeat demeanor and positivity always make my day. Thanks for everything you do, Lori!
