Dr. Michael Onyebuchi Eze, professor, Africana Studies Program, will join the annual Dutch Afrikadag in Amsterdam.
The Afrikadag in Amsterdam brings together African and European scientists, activists, NGO’s, politicians and the public to discuss just and equitable cooperation between Africa and Europe. With his philosophical expertise on international politics, development, and African thought, he’ll explore equality in the Dutch Africa Strategy and discuss truly African democratization processes on this event aimed at fostering just collaboration between Africa and Europe.
Estevan Parra Guerrero, director, Upward Bound, received the Director of the Year Award from the Central California Chapter of Western Association of Education Opportunity Personnel (WESTOP). The organization represents over 35 TRIO programs across central California serving students that are first-generation college students from a low-income background and/or have disabilities.
Dr. Ahran Koo, associate professor of art education, received the 2024 Outstanding Higher Education Visual Art Educator by California Art Education Association on Nov. 10 in Anaheim. The prestigious award, resulting from a rigorous evaluation process comprising peer reviews of nominations, pays tribute to the exceptional contributions, dedication, and achievements of a distinguished higher art educator who has made a lasting impact in California.
Dr. Anil Shrestha, professor, plant science department, published a research article in the MDPI Crops Journal titled "Variations and Commonalities of Farming Systems Based on Ecological Principles."
The research article compared ecological principles of different farming systems based on principles of sustainability, environmental protection, and the reduction on inputs. Writing with co-author David Horwitz, they also compared how the systems related to the United Nations' 13 principles of agroecology and challenges in implementing various systems.
