Domenick Satterberg (University Communications) spoke with the Sunnyside High School Video Academy students in October about the importance of storytelling in video production. He also shared his career journey to NFL Films and Fresno State.
Justine McAlpine (Kinesiology) and three of her students majoring in Physical Education — Brandon Chrest, Angie Bernardino and Raquel Cruz — presented on "Use of Tablets in a University-level Introduction to Adapted Physical Education Course" at the National Adapted Physical Education Conference in Los Angeles, Nov. 3-5. They will be presenting again at the California Association of Health, Physical Education, and Dance Conference in February 2017.
Evangelina Morris (Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing) received her Master of Public Administration from National University, making her the first in her family to receive a graduate degree.
Dr. Helen Miltiades (Social Work) and Dr. Greg Thatcher (Public Health) had their article, "Individuals with Alzheimer’s Learn to Play a Tile Placement Game: Results of a Pilot Study," accepted in Dementia: The International Journal of Social Research and Practice.
Dr. Joseph Ross (Biology) received a thank-you letter from President Barack Obama for his participation in America’s first “Active Learning Day.” He joined over 400 STEM faculty and administrators from the Association of American Colleges & Universities in a pledge to support the kinds of active teaching and learning strategies in STEM classrooms that are culturally responsive to today’s undergraduate population. As part the pledge, he created a video documenting the practices he uses in his courses.
