After 21 years of exceptional service to Fresno State, Diana Sewell will be retiring in December.
Please join us for a celebration to honor her many contributions and service to our campus and Foundation Board of Governors.
Date: Monday, Dec. 2
Time: 3:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Location: Smittcamp Alumni House.
For the past 11 years, Sewell has been the executive assistant in Auxiliary Services and the Office of the Vice President for Administration and Chief Financial Officer.
She was originally hired as an administrative assistant in University Advancement and after one year moved to a new position as office manager in the Alumni Association. When she first came to campus, Sewell did not envision the campus community playing such a large part in her life. She has enjoyed meeting a diverse group of people and liked the variety of work she has been challenged with. Sewell said that she will miss her colleagues, and having served as the staff administrative liaison for the Alumni Board of Directors and the Foundation Board of Governors, she will also miss the strong and lasting relationships she has established with these members.
Sewell will also miss the opportunity to easily meet her sister and fellow campus employee, Donna Lanier, for regular lunches. She is looking forward to spending time travelling and already has several trips planned — one to visit her two young grandchildren in Skagway, Alaska and another trip to Chicago in May. Most importantly, she will have time to enjoy her family, gardening and catching up on her reading list.
Sewell is planning to serve the community as a volunteer at Valley Children’s Hospital and, alongside her mom, serve as a docent at the
Fresno Chaffee Zoo.
Whether it was helping someone get an appointment on Debbie Adishian-Astone’s calendar or getting a document signed, Sewell's friendliness, positive “can-do” attitude and energy has made an impactful difference to everyone she has come into contact with. Her attention to detail and organization skills shine through on everything she does. Sewell has truly made a positive difference for our campus community and she will be greatly missed.
