The AI Conversation is a 30-minute webinar series hosted by Bao Johri, vice president for Information Technology and chief information officer. Each session features a faculty or staff member sharing how they use AI to enhance teaching, streamline operations, transform research and enrich campus life. The series fosters dialogue about using AI responsibly, ethically and effectively. Goals of the series:
- Encourage thoughtful integration of AI in higher education.
- Inspire cross-disciplinary exploration.
- Discuss ethics, academic integrity and institutional strategy.
- Build a campus culture where AI is understood and applied with care.

Meet Upcoming Guests - May 2026
William Hardaway, Thursday, May 7 | Noon - 12:30 p.m.
William Hardaway has a background in design thinking, product design and student services. He received his bachelor’s degree in philosophy from Fresno State as well as a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration and Leadership, where he wrote a thesis on creative problem solving as a tool to address inequities in higher education. He is passionate about the role instructional design plays in technology in the classroom as well as inclusive teaching.
Hardaway has led AI development efforts on campus, designing faculty learning experiences and practical applications that integrate generative AI into teaching, research and course design. In his role as a senior UX designer, he also works within Google AI Studio and the Google Vertex AI environment to prototype and evaluate AI-driven products, leveraging synthetic users, heuristic analysis and workflow automation to inform app design.
Dr. Christopher Ludwig, Friday, May 8 | 9 - 9:30 a.m.
Dr. Christopher Ludwig serves as an assistant professor in the Department of Kinesiology. His scholarly and professional expertise centers on primary care in athletic training, point-of-care ultrasound and applied neuroscience. In recent years, Ludwig has also dedicated significant effort to advancing his understanding of artificial intelligence, with particular emphasis on its integration into sports medicine, human performance and educational practice.
Ludwig has demonstrated sustained service to the profession through numerous leadership and committee roles within the National Athletic Trainers’ Association, including contributions to the NATA Research and Education Foundation, the Board of Certification, and the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education, as well as active involvement at the district and state levels.
In addition to his academic and professional service, Ludwig contributes to advancing scholarly work as a peer reviewer for several prominent journals, including the Journal of Athletic Training, Athletic Training Education Journal, Journal of Rehabilitative Practices and Research, Journal of Fitness, Wellness, and Human Performance, and Journal of Bodywork and Movement Therapies.
