Dr. Melissa Jordine, professor of history and University Assessment Coordinator, will leave Fresno State at the end of summer 2020. We are grateful for her vision, hard work, creativity and leadership in the past few years in advancing the outcomes assessment work on our campus. No less important has been her contribution in leading the campus’s preparation for our WASC accreditation.
Dr. Jordine served as the College of Social Sciences Assessment Coordinator from spring 2013 through spring 2016. She completed the WASC Assessment Leadership Academy during the 2014-15 AY and served as the faculty lead during Fresno State's WASC Accreditation Site Visit in 2015. She has served as the Director of Assessment since her appointment in 2015. In that role, she has coordinated the implementation of Fresno State's new GE Assessment method, the GE Portfolio, and has worked with the college assessment coordinators to evaluate the annual assessment reports that departments and programs submit each year. Dr. Jordine has given multiple presentations at WASC's Academic Resource Conference, has published an article in the International Journal of ePortfolio titled "A Holocaust Exhibit ePortfolio: Actively Engaging Students," and has worked with faculty to develop measures to assess the WASC undergraduate core competencies.
We wish Dr. Jordine all the best in her new endeavor, and will miss her dearly.
With Dr. Jordine’s departure, we are pleased to announce that Dr. Douglas Fraleigh will assume the role as our next University Assessment Coordinator. Dr. Fraleigh is a professor of communication, and has served as chair of the University Oral Communication Assessment Committee, as the College of Arts and Humanities Assessment Coordinator since 2014, and as a member of the Learning Assessment Team since 2015.
Dr. Fraleigh has a rich experience in assessment and is determined to continue the work Dr. Jordine started. He is looking forward to working with faculty colleagues, college and department assessment coordinators, Senate curriculum committees, and other stakeholders to ensure that the university's assessment program continues to advance student learning.
We welcome Dr. Fraleigh to his new role.
