Each year, the Henry Madden Library hosts an exhibition and reception to honor Outstanding Faculty Publications, the bold contributions to research, scholarship, and creative work made by Fresno State faculty. Due to the current public health circumstances, this year’s 22nd annual events couldn’t be held in person. Instead, we honor this year’s selections, through virtual means. The library invites the campus community to visit an online exhibit featuring information on the selected publications, with links to full text where available.
Outstanding Faculty Publications are selected by each department to showcase work by their faculty deserving of special recognition. This year, for the first time, the Library invited departments to submit multiple publications, so that more than one example of outstanding work could be included. The selections include journal articles, books, technical reports, and music recordings, and reflect the wide variety of research interests across the campus. As in past years, the collaborative nature of Fresno State researchers is displayed, with many faculty co-authoring publications with colleagues within their department, across departments, and at other institutions, and with Fresno State students and recent graduates.
In addition to the online exhibit, the Henry Madden Library plans to welcome the faculty honorees to an in-person reception when the time is right to do so.
The Fresno State Digital Repository will soon be migrating to the CSU-wide Scholarworks platform. It will continue to provide an Open Access venue for faculty to disseminate scholarly, creative, or instructional materials related to their work at Fresno State.
The Library’s Open Access Publishing Fund provides support for publishing fees for faculty who wish to publish their work in Open Access journals. Limited funding is still available for the 2019-20 year.
