What began as a "bold idea" in the 2017 Bold Ideas Challenge has now come to fruition in Fresno State's newest employee recognition program — High Five. Click here to read about how the program began.
High Fives are easy to give — simply go to the High Five website on the Organizational Excellence webpage, click “Give a High Five” and fill out the form to send kudos to anyone on campus. Your message will be delivered straight to their inbox, and recipients will be acknowledged weekly in Campus News.
Read below how your colleagues are going above and beyond to help the campus community.

Goes Above & Beyond
Lori Few, Accountancy Department
Lori has gone above and beyond every time I’ve needed help. When I was not able to locate a professor, she was there to assist me with the information I needed. On another occasion when I could not enroll in a class because it was already full, Lori helped by directing me to speak with the professor and also reached out to them on my behalf. Just recently, I was not able get a hold of the person in charge of the Class of 2021 stoles. I needed to purchase one and she provided me information about who I needed to reach out to. Lori is an awesome and helpful person and Fresno State did a great job hiring her.
Taylor Petersen, Henry Madden Library
When ASI requested study space in the library, Taylor went above and beyond to help create a safe and welcoming space. She volunteered for any extra hours needed, and she created signage for the two new study spaces. Thanks to Taylor, students know where to study and have clear information on what the rules are for the study space. Thank you, Taylor — your work always looks great!
Vincent Latham, Social Work, Title IV-E Program
Thank you, Vincent, for always going above and beyond! Your work and dedication to Fresno State are appreciated.
Outreach and Special Programs
Thank you, Outreach and Special Programs, for going above and beyond!
Provides Excellent Customer Service
Marie Tongson-Fernandez, Office of Institutional Effectiveness
Marie is absolutely amazing and always helpful. She is extremely knowledgeable about Qualtrics and makes adjustments on the surveys quickly. She also makes good suggestions. We requested a few projects in a short time period, and she handled everything in a timely manner. Fresno State is so lucky to have Marie!
Modeled Principles of Community
Becky Brown, University Development
Thank you, Becky, for Modeling Principles of Community! We appreciate the standard you set for us as part of the Fresno State community.
Saved My Bacon!
Maggie Flores and Samonia Hall, Central California Center for Health and Human Services
Samonia and Maggie worked tirelessly to meet a financial billing deadline for a grant on COVID-19 issues. They did so with a positive attitude and great work ethic. They are incredibly hard working, and we are lucky to have them at Fresno State!
