The Student Health and Counseling Center (SHCC) has been in a revitalization phase during the last few years that has improved programs and services for students.
The following upcoming changes reflect the student-centered approach for our programs and services:
- Administrator in Charge – Over the last ten months, Dr. Janell Morillo has overseen the successful completion of accreditation with the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). As a result, Dr. Morillo’s role will permanently expand to include oversight of the SHCC and her title will be updated to associate vice president for Student Heath Counseling and Wellness, effective immediately.
- Director of Health Services/Medical Chief of Staff – In December 2016, the director of Health Services retired from the SHCC and Dr. Daniel Little, the medical chief of staff, has served as the interim director of Health Services. Going forward, the director of Health Services and the medical chief of staff positions will be combined into one as the director of Medical Services, with a search taking place spring 2017. This will streamline oversight of the medical clinic staff.
- Enhancement of Wellness Services – The Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management will continue to grow and develop programs and services and integrate them with outside partners. Plans are underway to form a more cohesive unit of successful programs that directly contribute to wellness and student success under a new director of Wellness Services. The search for this position is also taking place spring 2017.
Overall, the revitalization of the SHCC will help to enrich and develop the programs and services in health, counseling and wellness for our students/University.
