“California Cybersecurity Solutions: Education, Research, and Workforce Development” LIVE Webcast
Date: Friday, March 12
Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
High profile cyber-attacks and hacks on government, industry, and the privacy of individuals dot current media coverage. Issues with ransomware, malware, criminal hacking and digital disruptions are common stories as we work/study remotely from home during COVID-19. The critical value of cybersecurity cannot be understated; however there are currently 521,617 available jobs nation-wide and 66,741 in California (Cyberseek.org, 2021). We need to take significant steps to reduce cybersecurity workforce capability and skill gaps across the Golden State. One key strategy involves the development of a statewide cybersecurity career education pipeline/pathway in coordination with academia, industry, the public sector. Our webcast today discusses current and future California Cybersecurity Education, Research, and Workforce Development initiatives with CSU faculty, staff, and students.
Dr. Keith Clement, Department of Criminology, is one of the speakers. He serves on the California Cybersecurity Task Force and is the Workforce Development and Education Subcommittee chair.
