Dr. Bernadette Muscat has been appointed as interim dean of Library Services, effective March 20. Muscat began at Fresno State in 2003 as an assistant professor and victimology coordinator in the Department of Criminology. She served as the associate dean for the College of Social Sciences and now as dean of Undergraduate Studies. Dr. Muscat will serve in this new interim role while continuing as dean of Undergraduate Studies.
In her current position, Muscat works on student success initiatives throughout the university, as well as accreditation, curriculum development, enrollment management and program review. Muscat is an invited speaker on data driven decision making and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) as they impact student success.
As a professor in the Department of Criminology she worked with victim service professionals for effective service provision. She writes and presents nationwide on family violence, trauma response and underserved populations. She is a co-author of the textbook "CJ Realities and Challenges" (2020). Muscat also serves on several boards in higher education and the community.
Muscat recognizes the critical central role that the library serves in our university community. I look forward to working with her as interim dean of Library Services, and I am confident that she will provide the leadership and support needed during this transitional period.
