Dr. Gitima Sharma, associate professor, Department of Counselor Education and Rehabilitation, received an invitation from Stanford University to engage in an academic exchange with a group of top eight scholars who are dedicated to advancing research on purpose. Her published research focuses on pedagogical practices that can strengthen students and educators’ inherent capacity as citizens of the world advancing positive change. These practices are rooted in principles of interconnectedness, empathy, compassion, shared humanity, and courage to dialogue despite differences.
She will be co-hosting a workshop at noon on Friday, March 8 in the Library room 2124 to share research-based insights and philosophical perspectives on cultivating joy and purpose. Register here.
Garbralle Conroe, adjunct faculty, Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, was selected for the 2024 education hero award for the Central Valley Heroes Awards event hosted by The American Red Cross of the Central Valley.
