Dr. Sergio La Porta, interim dean of the Kremen School of Education and Human Development, was a featured panelist at the "From Schism to Union and Back: Eastern Christians and Catholic Expansion in the Age of Confessionalism" workshop at the University of Michigan on Feb. 21.
Dr. Marie Gilbert, director of the Central California Center for Excellence in Nursing, presented two sessions at the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare in Orlando in January, including “Navigating Healthcare Simulation Standards to Promote Psychological Safety” and “Are Learners Safe? Exploring Variables and Flexing your Approach to Psychological Safety.” In addition, she presented a plenary session “Leading the Way: Transforming Nursing Education and Practice through Innovation and Collaboration” at the Association of California Nurse Leaders in Anaheim on Feb. 12.

Dr. Nupur Hajela, associate professor in the Department of Physical Therapy, presented two educational sessions at the National American Physical Therapy Association Combined Sections Meeting in Houston, Texas, Feb. 13 to 15, including “Techquest: Navigating Novel Technologies and Research Methodologies for Rehabilitation Innovation” and “Leveraging Technology for Health Promotion and Rehabilitation: Maximizing Mobility in Aging Adults with Neurological Conditions.” She was also awarded the Best Paper Award for her article “Interprofessional Skills in Telehealth Simulation among Health Science Interns: An Observational Study" at the International Conference on Health Professions Education, Dec. 13 to 14 in Kolar, India.

Dr. Na-hyeon Ko, associate professor, Department of Physical Therapy, presented her research “Different Corticospinal Excitability and TMS-induced Concurrent Excitation in Individuals with Chronic Ankle Instability During Single-limb Stand” at the International Brain Stimulation Conference in Kobe, Japan Feb. 23 to 26.
Dr. Janell Morillo, associate vice president for Student Health, Counseling and Wellness, was featured in "The Whole Student; Supporting Wellbeing," a report for The Chronicle of Higher Education.
Dr. Caio Sarmento, assistant professor, Department of Physical Therapy, is presenting his research on "The Impact of Sedentary Time on Pain Perception and Physical Functioning: A Cross-Sectional Pilot Study" at Anatomy Connected 2025 in Portland, Oregon, March 28 to 31, where he will also be receiving an award for this research. His abstract was blindly judged and ranked among the top five submissions among early career anatomists.
Dr. Cheryl Hickey, chair and associate professor and Dr. Leslie Zarrinkhameh, lecturer, both from the Department of Physical Therapy, hosted a presentation for the Osher Lifelong Learning Academy on campus focusing on “The Eyes and Ears Have it: Balancing the Mind and the Body.”
