Works Above and Beyond
Alysha Harn, College of Health and Human Services Advising and Career Development Center
Since stepping into a staff role at the beginning of the semester, Alysha has done an exceptional job in every aspect of being an academic advisor. She has quickly picked up the nuances of CHHS majors and has made meaningful and genuine connections with our students in both individual and group appointments. Alysha has acted as a leader and a mentor to student staff in our office, modeling professionalism and providing guidance to our newest graduate advisor as they begin to advise students. Most significantly, Alysha jumped right in to evaluating applicants for the fall 2022 nursing admission cycle, which added a significant workload on to her already busy professional and personal life. Despite this, Alysha did extraordinary work in quickly learning policies and practices regarding BSN admissions and completing them both quickly and accurately. Therefore, as an advisor, Alysha goes above and beyond not just in the outstanding quality of her work, but also with her willingness to tackle any new challenge and her ability to continue to learn and grow. In the brief time she has been with us, Alysha has consistently been exceptional in her work and ability, and it is noticed and appreciated.
Sandi Pugh, Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships
Sandi is a new employee in our office. Within a few months, she has learned several complex, institutional-specific policies, procedures, programs, and technology, providing holistic financial aid counseling to our students. She is always quick to volunteer to help other staff members with their workload and eager to learn new skills that make her an even better counselor. Most recently, she assisted with numerous projects, including taking over the TEACH grant program when one of our staff members left and learned how to review credential students for Pell and Cal Grants. Sandi is a wonderful addition to our team, and I am so grateful for her support and feedback.
Jenna Sawdon-Bea, Physical Therapy
Thank you Jenna, for going above and beyond!
Mehrzad Zarrin, Student Involvement
Mehrzad has been so helpful in helping me learn the ropes of campus facilities and events. She has gone above and beyond to help me connect with the right people on campus and answer all of my questions. She is so valuable to Student Affairs and Fresno State!
Provides Excellent Customer Service
CJ Aldridge, Catering
CJ and her crew provided incredible customer service when asked to assist the department with providing coffee for our candidate presentations on very short notice. They helped turn what could have been a stressful experience into a relaxed, welcoming environment. Thank you!
Ashley Smith, Craig School of Business Advising Center
Thank you, Ashley, for providing excellent customer service.
Student Affairs and Enrollment Management
Great turn out at the Spring 2022 Career Fair and Teacher Fair. Over 250 school districts and employers showed up eager to meet Fresno State's potential candidates. Volunteers from across campus were extraordinary. Great job Damian and staff of the Career Development Center for hosting such a huge event at the Save Mart Center and bringing our community back together!
Saved My Bacon!
Robert Chase, Technology Services
I can't count the number of times Robert has rescued me from technology issues. The latest was when my thumb drives (containing all my current work-related projects) stopped appearing on my desktop. I thought the files that I had built over the last two years were all completely gone! Robert was able to retrieve them all for me and save them onto our college server. No matter the issue, he is always pleasant and helpful!
Beneza Chavez, Civil and Geomatics Engineering Department
With a ruler and her quick thinking, Beneza "Saved My Bacon" by helping me clear a tiny piece of torn paper from the copy machine's rollers.
David Gaines, Technology Services
David is there every time I need immediate assistance with my computer or printer. Too many times I've put in work orders with emergency needs (almost always on the day a project is due) and David responds quickly. He is always courteous and helpful. I am so thankful for his help!
Katelyn Spencer, University Development
Katelyn recently shifted to another position in our division but continues to be a resource when I need input. Her desire to help is contagious.
Laura Yager, University Registrar
Laura always goes above and beyond to help the campus community. And today — she totally saved my bacon by fixing an issue I mistakenly created. Thank you so much Laura. I appreciate you!
