A bittersweet announcement:
After 34 years of leadership in student access, student learning and development, and retention and graduation, Maxine McDonald has announced her retirement from Fresno State.
Maxine McDonald has provided exceptional leadership to Fresno State students, faculty, and staff during her years on campus. Although there is not near enough space (or enough words) in this announcement to shed light on all of her achievements during her time on campus or show our appreciation, everyone who has worked with Maxine, can attest to her passion, mentorship, and knowledge.
The Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) has a tradition of success and has grown to serve over 1700 first generation, low income students in 2017.
Summer Bridge is recognized as one of the best in the CSU system for its retention and graduation of high-risk, first generation, low income students. She brought great recognition to Student Success initiatives to Fresno State, both nationally and throughout the CSU system.
College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), TRiO Student Support Services Program, Student Support Services - Veterans, Renaissance Scholars Program (RSP), SupportNet, Supplemental Instruction (SI) and the Dream Centers are all supporting students on their Fresno State journey under the direction of Maxine and her passion for student success.
Maxine leaves behind a passionate team and legacy that will continue to support all students in the coming years and well into the future.
Maxine will be greatly missed both personally and professionally, in the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management, and campus wide. Please join us in thanking Maxine McDonald for her many years of exemplary servant-leadership and wishing her the best on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the Smittcamp Alumni House.
