Capturing that perfect photo moment is what drives Cary Edmondson.
As the campus photographer for University Brand Strategy and Marketing, he's always looking for action. His keen eye and talent have showcased the campus through amazing photos you've no doubt seen and admired.
"My favorite part of the job is being able to tell stories through the new storytelling site we have online," he said. "We've got a great team in Brand Strategy and Marketing who all get along with each other, and it makes coming to work a fun experience each day."
Before coming to Fresno State, Cary worked at California State University, Stanislaus as the campus photographer. Prior to that, he was a staff photographer for newspapers in Nevada, Florida and California.
Cary started working for Fresno State in September 2011 and is also a contract photographer for USA Today Sports since 2007. He received his bachelor's degree in studio art from Fresno State in 2002.
All the high action started when Cary was a student.
"My passion for art and sports was able to mix when I started taking photos for The Collegian as a student," he said. "Once I found out I had a knack for capturing high-action sports on film, (and that I could actually get paid doing something I love), I never looked back."

Cary has been lucky enough to photograph the World Series, the NBA Finals and the Super Bowl. Earlier this year, he also was able to shoot the College Football Playoff National Championship game at Levi's Stadium.
"It was another event I was able to cross off my bucket list," he said.
When not at Fresno State, Cary stays busy shooting two to three sporting events each month for USA Today. He also photographs weddings throughout the state.
From a professional point of view, Cary says almost nothing beats the moment he landed his first Sports Illustrated cover.
But from a personal point of view, he says nothing beats finding the right woman to marry — a tribute to his wife of six years, Elaine.
Cary tries to stay active by going to the gym or playing basketball. Otherwise, he gets a lot of exercise trying to keep up with his son, Caleb, who just turned three.
