How long have you worked at Fresno State? 12 years
What drew you to work at Fresno State, and what has kept you here? I wanted to work someplace where I could be proud of the work I was doing, to know that it mattered. Now if I ever have a bad day, I can just look at the students walking across campus and remember that we are helping to create the future of the Central Valley. Fresno State is amazing!
What accomplishment or project are you most proud of in your career? I’m really proud of the diversity and inclusion work I’ve done on campus with NCBI (National Coalition Building Institute). Programs like this and the support it provides students and employees is so important — now more than ever. I’m hoping to see it revitalized and continue this year.
Are you from the Valley, or did you come here from somewhere else? I’ve lived in the Valley since I was seven, but prior to that I lived in Texas, Saudi Arabia and Alaska — my dad was in the Air Force.
Are you connected to Fresno State through family or community traditions? I come from a family of Bulldogs! My dad went to Fresno State, as did my younger brother. I think growing up in Fresno it’s hard not to feel connected to Fresno State. I had the opportunity to leave for college, but ultimately decided to stay and attend Fresno State, and I’m so glad I did. I graduated from the Craig School of Business in 2004 with my bachelor’s in international business. I was also part of the Craig School Honors Program.
What’s one fun or unusual fact about you (past job, hidden talent, unique experience)? When I was a student at Fresno State, I studied abroad in Japan. At one point, I could speak a bit of Japanese, as well as Spanish and Italian. Fun fact: I can recite Disney’s animated Robin Hood in its entirety.
What do you like to do for fun outside of work? It feels like I have so little free time, but I really love reading, playing video games, embroidery and spending time outdoors with my husband and 9-year-old daughter.
